I graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University in 2005 with a first class BA Honours in three dimensional design. I was the recipient of the 3rd annual MMU graduate exhibition award. and have since won multiple awards.
The imperfect handmade nature of my work reflects how memories become blurred over time and that often what we remember is the essence of something : a colour or a feeling every brush stroke tells a story .
My work takes me on a personal journey through my own memories and family stories based in the north of England and always around the subject of the natural world. 
For me my sketchbooks and the process of mark making and layering whether that be on paper or the ceramic surface  is essential.  I have also spent many years working in a spontaneous manner using large brush strokes to make sweeping gestural marks, translating my characterful drawings and watercolor washes onto the ceramic surface.
